Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®)

The FSC is a global organization which sets standards for guiding and coordinating the development of responsible forest management throughout the different biogeographic regions of the world. The FSC’s principles and criteria span economic, social, and environmental concerns and its measures are implemented through a variety of certifications.

Rainforest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods in more than 60 countries around the world by striving to employ standards that are socially and environmentally responsible, as well as economically viable. Participants in the Rainforest Alliance’s programs meet rigorous standards and the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal of approval assures consumers that they are buying a sustainable product.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)

SFI is a globally-recognized organization dedicated to promoting responsible forest management, as well as sustainable environmental, social, and economic interests. The organization’s forest certification standard is not only based on principles that support forest conservation, but also includes measures to protect water quality, biodiversity, and wildlife habitats.

Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC)

The PEFC Council is a global non-profit organization promoting sustainably managed forests through independent third-party certification. The PEFC is the world’s largest certification system, accounting for more than 200 million hectares of certified forests which produce millions of tons of certified timber to the market place. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.

Environmental Protection Agency Green Power Partner

The EPA Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that supports the organizational procurement of renewable energy. Buying green power is one of the easiest and most effective ways to improve an organization’s environmental performance, and the Partnership program offers organizations various tools and resources to help achieve their goals. Conservation International

In conjunction with Conservation International and the Wildlife Conservation Society, EarthColor supports the Makira Forest Project in Madasgascar. The Makira Project combines a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to forest conservation and natural resource management centered on community-integrated sustainable development and poverty alleviation.

CERES

Ceres is a national network of businesses, public interest groups, investors, and environmental organizations dedicated to advancing stewardship and addressing environmental and social challenges. Its mission is to integrate sustainability into capital markets. EarthColor has been a member since 2005 and fully supports Ceres’s principles and mission.

Soy Seal Certification

EarthColor prints with soy-based inks and is licensed to use the “SoySeal” certification mark on its products. Soy-based inks along with vegetable-based inks, are a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable alternative to regular petroleum-based inks, and are wholly supported by EarthColor.

Institute for Sustainable Communications (ISC)

ISC’s mission is to raise awareness, build capacity, and foster the widespread adoption of economically viable, environmentally sustainable, and socially constructive uses of print and digital media. The organization seeks to lead the global transformation of media supply chains and communication practices that allow business, government, and individuals to meet the needs of present generations without crossing irreversible thresholds that will compromise future generations. EarthColor collaborates with ISC, undergoing voluntary peer-reviews of the life-cycle assessment of its sustainable strategies and programs.

Community Energy Inc.

Founded in 1999 with the support of environmental leaders and energy suppliers, Community Energy, Inc. (CEI) has helped pioneer the U.S. market for renewable energy sales and grown the availability of wind-generated electricity. Since April 2007, EarthColor has been committed to purchasing Green-e® Energy Certified wind-generated Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) — offsetting 100% of our electricity usage. EarthColor customers have the option to apply a “Printed Using 100% Wind Energy Logo” to their printed materials to demonstrate the difference they too are making by choosing an environmentally friendly printer.
